“Shared Struggles”: (listen)
Native America Calling
Thursday, 7 May 2009
“As the United States was formed, tribal Nations have faced numerous kinds of changes. A new government and all of its new rules caused the erosion of tribal cultures and way of life. Over the years we’ve witnessed how political borders and differing nationalism can break tribes and even families. But, these same struggles are shared by many nations around the world. One part of the globe knows our world all too well—the Middle East. How can an understanding of this area bring clarity to what we face as tribal nations at home and vice versa? Guests include Juila Good Fox (Pawnee Nation).”

“Julia GoodFox (Pawnee Nation), a member of the Third World Coalition delegation to Israel and the Occupied West Bank, joins us for most of today’s show and this segment to discuss the recent Israeli occupation into Gaza (Palestine), the Israeli government denying fundamental Palestinian human rights for decades, drawing parallels between the United States historical and contemporary treatment towards Indigenous Nations/peoples and Israels historical and contemporary treatment towards Palestine/Palestinians; and she also discusses the similarities and dimensions of how the United States corporate mass media is biased when covering these critical issues. All this, plus her personal narratives from visiting Israel/Palestine.”
